IB CP High School at AGIS
The AGIS High School (Grades 10–11) operates under a curriculum that integrates IB CP standards, the national educational standard, and unique AGIS components.
High school is a time when students need not only a strong academic foundation, but also a clear professional pathway: who do I want to become, what skills do I need, which universities/colleges suit me, what portfolio of achievements to build.

To address this need, the International Baccalaureate has developed a career-oriented programme for upper secondary students — the Career-related Programme (IB CP), which combines academic rigor with practical, career-focused learning.
AGIS received authorization for the IB Career-related Programme (IB CP) in June 2024.
Today, AGIS is the only school in Central Asia authorized to deliver the IB CP programme.

The IB CP diploma is awarded alongside a BTEC certificate, confirming college-level professional education. The programme builds a strong foundation for admission to top universities, further development in a chosen career field, and even the opportunity to begin a professional path immediately after graduation.

3. CP Core (Core Components)

In addition to academic and professional studies, students complete the CP Core, which makes the programme holistic:
  • Portfolio preparation (Personal and professional skills)
  • Reflective Project
  • Social initiatives (Community engagement / Service learning)

The IB CP programme provides an excellent opportunity to gain internationally recognized, college-level professional education during high school.

The curriculum for Grades 10–11 includes:
  • IB CP (DP subjects + CP Core)
  • BTEC subjects
  • English as the Language of Instruction
  • Advanced English
  • AP subjects
  • SAT preparation
  • IELTS preparation
  • Career & College Counseling
  • AI Literacy
  • Extracurricular Development Programme
  • Office Hours
  • Electives (second foreign language, robotics, etc.)
  • Counselor support
2. Career‑related studies

At AGIS, students pursue the BTEC (Business and Technology Education Council) Level 3 programme in one of three areas: IT, Media and Business.

Upon completion, students receive a BTEC certificate issued by Pearson, a leading UK-based educational organization. This certificate is an essential component of the IB CP diploma.
1. The programme consists of three key components:

IB Academic subjects| at least 2-3 IB Diploma Programme (DP) subjects at advanced level

These subjects provide a strong academic foundation recognized worldwide. The selection of DP subjects is aligned with the student’s career pathway, which is determined through career guidance before entering high school. Other subjects follow the national curriculum, allowing students to receive a state-recognized school certificate.
How IB CP works: Three Components and the “Bridge” Between Education and Career
AI literacy in high school: awareness, academic integrity, and preparation for the world of careers.
International frameworks (for example, UNESCO*) emphasize the need to prepare students as responsible users and co‑creators of AI, highlighting individual dimensions ranging from ethics to understanding techniques and system design.
AI literacy includes not only the use of tools, but also a critical assessment of the result. In high school, AI literacy already plays the role of a professional skill: to be able to use AI tools for research and productivity with mandatory verification, references, verification of sources, ethics, and an understanding of the risks of "false confidence" and academic dishonesty.

AP Subjects as an Enhancement of the Academic Pathway
In the IB system, ATL skills are a core component integrated across all IB programmes: PYP, MYP and CP.
ATL represents the ability to learn effectively and consists of five skill groups:

  • Cognitive (Thinking) skills
  • Research skills,
  • Communication skills,
  • Social skills
  • Self-management skills

ATL skills are embedded into the academic programme at every stage of student development.
Astana Garden International School supports the development of ATL through continuous methodological work dedicated to specific skill groups.

A unified approach is being formed that links all programs into a continuous vertical:

  1. PYP forms the basis of the "ability to learn"
  2. MYP transforms it into systematic academic thinking,
  3. at the IB CP ATL stage they transform into professional competencies.

ATL is not a separate component of learning, but a systematic tool for developing student skills in IB.
